Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated April 4, 1961 partially reads, "The recession has at least one good point for O. W. Schmidt...He's getting a chance to finish the set of hand-painted china his wife asked him to create about a year ago. Schmidt, 45, is a prototype machinist, and in his line 'things are very slow.' So when he's not out looking for a job, he's at home painting desert, mountain and sea scenes on cups, saucers, plates, a teapot and other parts of the set."
