Thought for the day by Charles Handy on South Africa and the lessons of Christian forgiveness and new beginnings. Handy begins the thought explaining how he travelled to South Africa and took notice of the appalling living conditions created by Afrikaners over years of colonization, commenting that he was astonished so many of the black South Africans forgave the Afrikaners and looked toward a more promising future. He proceeds to note that it is really the Afrikaners who need to forgive themselves, and how they are caught in a Christian paradox, stating that they require God and faith in God to really grant forgiveness and relief from guilt. Handy goes on to conclude how he believes new beginnings start with forgiveness and the willingness to say "I'm sorry."
