Description
Construction of the Sacramento River waterfront near I Street is shown in this circa 1864 image. The old grade of the levee, sloping toward the Sacramento River is just visible below the boardwalk. Sacramento’s first bridge across the Sacramento River, which opened in 1858, also can be seen extending across the river to Yolo County.
