Description
Ten views of Samarkand Hotel and gardens in Santa Barbara. Built in 1915 by Dr. Prynce [Pryns] Hopkins as Boyland II School, changed to Samarkand Hotel in 1920; shows Persian architecture with "ogee" entrance to passageways, symmetrical gardens, pergola, ponds, half acre artificial lake, and tiled terraces; became a retirement community in 1955.
