Photograph caption dated March 13, 1961 reads "Top three finishers in mile run by Poly Relays yesterday are presented Valley Times TODAY trophies by sports editor Claude Newman. They are, left, Paul Arroyo, Poly, second place; Gary Goettelmann, Van Nuys, winner, and Duane Green, San Fernando, third. Goettelmann set Relays record with 4:31.1 clocking." The event was held at Polytechnic High School's Haney Field in Sun Valley.
