Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated June 25, 1963 partially reads, "'People are important at Goodwill.' Even a brief chat with 30-year-old Gloria Besnilian, a clerk at Goodwill's Canoga Park store, assures you this slogan is accurate. She knows from bitter experience how narrowly many employers look at a handicapped person applying for a job. A victim of polio as a child, Miss Besnilian, who is of Armenian descent, moved to Los Angeles from Ethiopia seven years ago... She held several jobs, but lost them because of slow movement resulting from her polio-stricken legs. Her spirits revived after working with even more seriously handicapped trainees at Goodwill's Panorama City Plant... Her endorsement of Goodwill Month - declared for the month of June - is obviously heartfelt." Photograph caption reads, "Polio victim endorses Goodwill month - Gloria Besnilian, clerk, found work with Goodwill."
