Description
Photograph caption dated April 3, 1974 reads, "Fisheye lens captures Inscription Canyon on Mojave Desert near Barstow which appears to have been formed by volcanic lava flows. It is so named because its black basalt walls are inscribed with hundreds of ancient Indian petroglyphs, indicating it may have once been a village site."
