Description
“Chorus-singers, Chogoria, Xmas 1949.” Group portrait of four men singing. The Chogoria mission supported the Revival movement from the early days. While waiting for everyone to gather, for a meeting, members would sing the Revival chorus Tũkũgoca Jesu [We are praising Jesus] or ‘Praise to the Lamb’ which was adopted as a signature tune. ❧ The image is from the collection of Dr Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) showing the period from 1947-1961 at the Chogoria mission which was established near Mt Kenya, in 1922, and run by Dr Irvine.
