Pickets staged a lie-down demonstration near the entrance to a parking lot of the Federal Building. An uneasy situation prevailed while picketers continued their demonstrations against civil rights abuses in Alabama. Officers were preventing the pickets from entering the building on March 10, 1965. Seven of the Spring Street doors were locked.
