Description
3 tankers and a box car overturned on El Segundo/Alameda, Compton. Photo caption reads: "Acid test of sunny day: Work crews clean up after the derailment of four tank cars spoiled what had started out as a quiet, sunny morning near Alameda Street and El Segundo Boulevard. One car contained 13,573 gallons of sulfuric acid, while another had 23,530 gallons of tallow, authorities said. An evacuation plan was readied in case the two should mix, but there was no leakage."
