Friedrich Nüssler (1900-?), from Cologne, worked as a male nurse before serving the Leipzig Mission as a deacon in Machame from 1929 to 1931. Then he worked in Gonja until 1940, apart from a stay in Mbaga from 1933 to 1938.
Johannes Hohenberger (1899-1983), from Upper Franconia, served the Leipzig Mission as one of the first missionaries after the First World War. From 1926 to 1930 he worked in Shigatini, there he learned Kiswahili and two other local languages. In 1930 he came to Arusha and founded the first mission station in the Maasai steppe, later he established another one in Naverera. After the Second World War he returned to Africa for Bible translations, he had excellent language skills.
