Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on April 8, 1973 states: "On April 11, Good Friday, 100 years ago this Wednesday, Gen. Edward R. S. Canby and Rev. Eleasar Thomas, two members of a government peace commission, were killed by Modoc Indians during peace talks at this site near Tulelake, Siskiyou County.
