Description
Oral History interview with ASTRONAUT AL WORDEN. This interview by Ron Carrico just prior to Astronaut Worden's induction into the San Diego Air and Space Air Museum Hall of Fame in November 17, 2016. Col. Worden (USAF Retired) the Command Module Pilot discusses the Apollo 15 mission to the moon in July-August 1971. Col. David Scott was the Mission Commander and Lt. Col. James Irwin was the Lunar Module Pilot. Apollo 15 was is called the first "scientific mission" to the moon. The Major Worden orbited the moon 75 times and conducted and number of scientific experiments and photographed vast area of the moon. In this video he discusses the experiments, his EVA over 200,000 miles from earth. He also discusses various dynamics of the rocket ride into space and the lunar orbit. He also discusses the effect on the human body, the difficulties of zero G and Lagrange points and celestial navigation. Unfortunately we only had and hour and there were many other areas that will be covered in a succeeding interview with Col. Worden.
