Description
From a collection of Photographs of various grand officers 2a: B&W photo mounted on cream colored card stock, stamped with name of photographer: Lewis, Monterey St., San Luis Obispo, CA. Torn on lower right corner. 2b: B&W photo mounted on black cardstock, stamped with name of photographer: Cunningham, Morro Street, San Luis Obispo, Cal. King David's Lodge No. 209, San Luis Obispo Grand Secretary 1908-1941 B: 7/4/1855 D: March 31, 1941 Born in Urbana, OH, Whicher apprenticed at the age of 13 as a printer-described by him as, "The art representative of all arts." He was made a Mason in Pioneer Lodge No. 22 in Des Moines, IA EA: 8/9/1879 FC: 9/20/1879 MM: 10/4/1879 He demitted from his mother lodge and thence travelled to Colorado in 1879, where he became a charter member of Leadville Lodge No. 51 in Leadville, CO in 1882. In 1886 he began residence in San Luis Obispo, CA and was elected County Clerk in 1898, in which position he served with distinction until 1900, when he became President of the County Bank. Which joined King David's Lodge No. 209 and served as its Master in 1901 and 1902. He also served as head of all three York Rite Bodies. In 1901 he played a key part with the fund raising and construction of the Sloat Monument in Monterey, notably securing the County Stone to be used as the foundation stone of the monument (source: Edwin A.
