Photograph of General Sherman of Pacific Electric Railway is sitting at the wheel of a Mobile Stanhope Steamer with William A. Hammell, a Los Angeles Sheriff, sitting in as a passenger, Hollywood Boulevard, 1900. The vehicle consists of a passenger compartment with barely enough room to fit two adult males. A chain-type of contraption helps move the four bicycle-like wheels. General Sherman is holding onto the steering mechanism which mainly consists of an L-shaped metal(?) bar connected the wheel's drive shaft below.
