Description
And now it's the dollar chain letter plant. With the dime letter chains having almost died out, the latest "share the wealth" scheme to hit Los Angeles county is the "dollar scramble" which started in Glendale and has mushroomed over the county into Hollywood and other outlying communities. Photo shows workers in the Glendale "dollar plant" of Mrs. Jessie Rosenfeld. It seems Mrs. Rosenfeld doesn't believe everyone mails his chain letters, so persons desiring to share in the new scheme must come to her office and pay $1 each. Then her clerks send out the chain letters containing dollar bills. 'Tis said you get $128 for your $1. Photo dated: May 18, 1935.
