Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated December 29, 1950 partially reads, "John Boecker, 62, for 25 years a Van Nuys postman, is giving his aging bunions a rest at long last. Today he retires. Developing those corns wasn't so bad, Boecker reflected, although he is looking forward to spending the rest of his days resting, reading and fishing. 'I hear the boys are going to give me a fishing rod for a going away present,' he said hopefully."
