Lakes and streams replaced many streets in Los Angeles after the rain which left 1.18 inches of rain in the weatherman's gauges on January 24, 1941. This photo shows the canal-like scene on Jefferson Blvd. near Slauson Avenue, where cars moved like boats through the flooded Culver City streets. Many cars were stalled, and some collided on slippery roads.
