Image of a crowd of onlookers watching two women, representing Canada and Mexico, sit on top of the hoods of automobiles and shake hands with each other at the Roosevelt Highway Dedication ceremony at Sycamore Canyon in Malibu, California. The women have sashes that read "Miss Canada" and "Miss Mexico" (representing the joining of Canada and Mexico via the highway).
Title and date transcribed from information on envelope in which negative was received: "6/29/1929 Santa Monica, Roosevelt Highway Dedication, Sycamore Canyon." The Roosevelt Highway eventually becomes the Pacific Coast Highway.
