Close-up view of the cornerstone of Montebello Christian Fellowship, formerly called First Baptist Church (as indicated on the stone). A dedication reads "Unto Him who loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood". Rev. 1:5". Located at 136 South 7th Street, the church then known as First Baptist Church was built in 1947. It is unknown when it acquired its current name of Montebello Christian Fellowship. Christianity is a monotheistic religion centered on the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, which teaches that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah prophesied. The core Christian belief is that, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, sinful humans can be reconciled to God and thereby are offered salvation and the promise of eternal life. Also, through faith in Jesus, one can be saved from sin and eternal death. Christianity is one of the world's largest religions with an estimated number of followers that ranges between 1.5 and 2.1 billion; it is the predominant religion in Europe, the Americas, South Africa, and the Philippines.
