Councilmember Tom LaBonge turned the camera toward photographers Gary McCarthy (left) and Gary Leonard (right) who were attending the Project Restore Gala held outdoors at Olvera Street. Project Restore is a non-profit group originally created to renovate City Hall; it also plans to renovate a two-mile stretch of First Street from the Disney Concert Hall in Downtown to Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights. In the background, several tables have been set up and people can be seen dining and enjoying the evening festivities. Pico House is in the background. Gary McCarthy and Gary Leonard's photographs are regularly featured in the L.A. Downtown News, as well as other numerous publications. Photo dated: September 10, 2005.
