Photograph of a Navajo family in their hogan on the Painted Desert preparing a meal, showing view from front, ca.1901. At center, eleven people can be seen gathered near the opening of the hogan including a man, two women, and eight children. To the far right, a woman is grinding green corn into flour. At center, a woman is visible to the right of entrance. The man sits near the main support post of the hogan with all eight children to his right. A metal pitcher is hanging from one of the hogan's timbers near a few blankets. A burro is visible behind the hogan at left.
