Another man sits on top of the trunk to the left of the ladder, while three men stand in front of the trunk near the ladder. The man standing to the far left is holding axe in his left hand that is stuck in the trunk. The men are visible wearing long sleeved shirts, suspenders, and hats. Lumber and branches are visible in the foreground, while tall pine trees stand in the background.
