Photograph caption dated September 9, 1964 reads, "Skyward - A Piper Cub, below, tows a German-made Schleicker sailplane aloft in a Van Nuys Airport demonstration to publicize the U.S. Olympic Soaring Team's need for funds. The flight was made Tuesday by the team's back-up pilot, Graham Thomson."
