Photograph caption dated July 13, 1961 reads, "They sculpt, plunk, paint at Valley Art Center, 5115 White Oak Ave., Encino. Mrs. Herbert Hoffman, left, shown with Art Center instructor Ben Brisken, lops off a particle of clay, while Morris and Lorna O'Leary, second picture, strum a lesson from the center's guitar class. In the third picture Mrs. Marjorie Simpson dabs in oils under the scrutiny of George Rutzen, her teacher at the Art Center.
