An issue titled as: The Tule Lake incident. The document discusses an incident that took place at the Tule Lake camp, four days after the army arrived to the camp to take control. It was rooted in problems between the administrative staff and the incarceree population and eventually culminated in episodes of violence. The collection contains material used by Carey McWilliams in writing the book, Prejudice: Japanese Americans, symbol of racial intolerance (Little, Brown, 1944). It includes U.S. War Relocation Authority records, confidential reports, bibliographies, clippings and compilations of articles, legal papers, correspondence between McWilliams and Japanese American evacuees, relocation camp newspapers and other publications, two copies of his book, and five copies of the 1994 videocassette (40 min.), Something Strong Within.
