An aerial view of the waterfront in Long Beach. Hotels and apartment houses face the beaches as well as the Rainbow Pier that circles the Municipal Auditorium as it juts out into the Pacific. The multistory Breakers Hotel with its cupola is directly behind the auditorium. Like the auditorium, The Pike's roller coaster sits on a pier. Long Beach's central business district with its theaters, hotels, retail stores, and other businesses is close to the beaches. In the background, a bridge crosses the Los Angeles River and oil derricks are on the horizon.
