Ronald Reagan, then Governor of California, speaks at the Pepperdine College at Malibu Master Plan Announcement Dinner, an event in Pepperdine history known as the "Birth of a College” dinner. The event was held at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles with an overflow crowd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 9, 1970. Governor Reagan, who received an honorary doctorate degree just prior to the beginning of this recording, speaks on the subject of students, independent colleges, and education. This is an excerpt from Part Three of the "Birth of a College" series, isolating Governor Reagan's speech. Thumbnail image of Ronald Reagan provided by LearnCalifornia.org, used with permission. 19:10
