Description
Group portrait showing the ministers and laymen of Blantyre mission including the newly ordained Harry Matecheta seated in the front row on Dr. Hetherwick's right side and Stephen Kundecha who is seated to his left. The group is arranged in front of Blantyre church. Harry, known as Father Harry, was from the Yao tribe and had been an evangelist-teacher in Angoniland since 1898. Stephen, previously known as Asoma, had been head native teacher in the Domasi mission. ❧ From a Photograph Album of the Blantyre Mission, Nyasaland [Malawi] and the Mihecani Mission, Portuguese East Africa [Mozambique].
