Description
Photograph of a view of Big Ben, a tame seal, in the water of Avalon Harbor, ca.1905. The harbor is at left, while the rocky beach is at right. A tall hill can be seen in the background at right. Several small boats are beached on the shore at right, while more boats are moored in the water at left. The seal's head is visible in the shallow water at center. Named "Big Ben," the creature was very tame and would come up on the street to eat fish handed to it in front of a restaurant.
