After 35 years with the Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety, the last 14 of those years as chief of the Valley division, Hastings would like to relax. And well he should. His Valley office behind the municipal building in Van Nuys, staffed with 186 employes [sic], conducts about 42 per cent of the entire work load of the department."
