Description
Flat-bed truck loaded with fruit crates labeled, "John Leonard Cupertino" and "M. C. Burrell Cupertino" (several appear to read "M. G. Burrell)." Man in fedora is holding an open crate of fruit (possibly plums or nectarines) on the running board of the truck, angled for the camera. Drying trays fill the foreground. Text accompanying photo: "Conventional sun-drying field about 1927. Method was common in 1900 and is almost as common today. This was a good cannery quality fruit. Trays were spread on racks to keep them out of the dirt. Truck is a 'Republic,' auto is thought to be a Maxwell."
