Description
Photograph of the Altar of the Miraculous at Mission Santa Clara, ca.1900. A crucifix adorns the altar and is hung under an archway. Several plants and candle sticks are also on the altar. A sign above Jesus' head reads "INRI", and another sign at the base of the altar reads "IHS" (Jesus Savior of Man). The crucifix at the altar is carried yearly in a procession on Good Friday by the Indians to "Pueblo San Jose".
