Description
(3. Quartalsbericht 06.10.1860: 3). Note translation: "Nos. 27 & 28 [QC-30.016.0021-0022] show Tschowa. The first picture shows the church at the upper right, and upper left the house of the catechist, Karl Stocking the large house in the foreground is the school, the other buildings are houses of the Pulya christians. You can see from the photographs that the settlement is not a good one for agriculture . It is a bare, dry, stony hillside. The tropical sun blazes down. It can only be cultivated with the kind of care and labour you invest in a greenhouse [one part of this sentence are illegible]. The trees in the foreground stand on both sides of the road to Tellitscherry, and do not grow on mission land. The plants set at regular intervals on the mission hill are cocnut palms." (C.G. Richter's 3. Quartaly report 06.10.1860: 3).
