Called "The Tower Line" by employees, the transmission line between Bishop and San Bernardino shown here under construction in 1913 was the longest in the world when completed. The supply and patrol road built alongside was later purchased by the Federal government and reconstructed as Highway U.S. 395. Pg. 79.
