Description
Photograph of a view of Broadway looking north from below Third Street in Los Angeles, ca.1918. Broadway is at center and heads away from the viewer into the distance. There are two sets of streetcar tracks running down the middle of the street and one streetcar is traveling down each track. Broadway is lined with early-model automobiles, and several pedestrians and bicyclists are in the road as well. There are tall buildings on both sides of the street. The Bradbury building is at right and the City Hall tower is visible near center. Legible signs include, from left to right, "Heliotrope Drive", "Bimini Hot Spring", "Cliffton-By-The -Sea", "Redondo Beach via Moneta Ave", "109", "Chamber of Commerce", "Pic whist", "Santa Fe Station & Vermont Ave", "For Rent", "Regal Shoe Store", "Suits Berlin Sample Garment Shop Dresses", "Furs", and "3000 [?] Silks at 65¢ on the dollar on sale now".
