Description
Photograph of a view of the Gymnasium at Stanford University following the 1906 earthquake, 1906. The walls of the outer two sections of the large, stone gymnasium still stand. The windows are broken and the upper walls have crumbled into piles on the ground below. The roofs have caved into the building and a lightly-colored sheet has been draped over the roof damage on the right. The center portion of the gymnasium is shown as a pile of rubble that spills into the yard in front. A round, metal frame can be seen on top of the pile at center. What appear to be barrels sit in a row across the street in the foreground at center with sidewalks and grassy yards on either side.
