Description
Photograph of Arch Rock in Santa Monica, ca.1889. A man stands in a suit and hat under a natural archway made in the rock face above him. Rounded stones surround him, and the shore is visible to the right. A ridge extends out across the horizon behind him. The early Coast Highway is apparently passing under the arch in the photo. The arch was later destroyed by the Ringe family in 1906 so they could move heavy equipment into the area.
