Description
A letter from Cedrick Shimo to the Army Discharge Re-hearing Board regarding Minoru Takaki, a fellow member of the 1800 Engineers, a labor battalion in the U.S. Army made up of Japanese Americans who were considered "misfits" during Word War II. Shimo writes that all the members of the battalion who spent some time in Japan before World War II were given "blue discharge without honor" regardless of their conduct in the Army. Shimo argues that Minoru was one of those soldiers who was unfairly discharged, and Shimo requests that the Board reverse this decision.
