Description
With the camera looking northwest, construction of the Ocean Boulevard bridge at Pico Avenue is pictured here. The bridge opened in 1959. Oil rigs stand nearby at left. Vehicle traffic waits at a light. Visible in the hazy background, Signal Hill is covered with oil rigs. A label fixed to the front of this print is dated "1957." On image back is stamped, "LBFD John J. Lloyd; Feb 25, 1958; Ocean & Pico." DATE NOTES: See text above. ORIG. IMAGE: 8" x 10" B&W glossy print.
