Photograph caption dated August 12, 1954 reads, "Victor M. Carter, president of Builders Emporium, presents $50 United States Savings Bond to employe [sic] Shiz Komuro for suggesting the title 'Vote...and Keep America Free' as the subject for this year's Citizenship Essay Contest which is sponsored by the store and open to the public. The winner will receive the Victor M. Carter Annual Citizenship Gold Trophy Award and a free one week vacation for two via TWA in Washington, D. C."
