Photograph caption dated August 27, 1954 reads "Wally Parks, president of National Hot Rod Association and editor of Hot Rod Magazine, is one of nation's most ardent defenders of drag strips. With offices in neighboring Hollywood, Parks has always felt Valley an 'advanced hot rod area.' Latest Hot Rod edition contains stirring appeal for more drag strips."
