Description
Photograph shows a May Day float carrying three riders being pulled by six young men who are harnessed to the carriage while an audience watches. Float is an open carriage covered in leaves. The date of May 1 is made with leaves and hangs from a rope of leaves above the carriage.
The May fete began in 1900 as an outdoor play festival for youngsters in the kindergarten-primary program. It grew into a popular springtime celebration involving nearly everyone on campus and attracting hundreds of spectators.
Scanned with Microtek Scanmaker 1000XL Pro; as a 600 dpi TIFF image in 8-bit Grayscale. Auto Level image processing and compressed into JPEG format using Photoshop CS3.
