1989-1195. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 5. Front view of the Wood Curtis Company building with a car parked perpendicularly in front; it is a 3 storey building with the first floor covered by a wooden roof; second and third floors have 5 tall windows with an arch element supported by corbels on the outside; between second and third floor is sign "Wood Curtis Company"; on roof top is another sign with same information; line of roof at top has a horizontal linetl held up visually by rectangular corbels; two chimneys flank the ends of the roof. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "First floor occupied by J.B. Starr & Co., Auction Rooms and Metropolitan Baths and a barber-shop. Its 2nd floor, by law offices, 3rd floor by the Masonic Lodges of Sacramento. (In 1854).Later in 1860, occupied by Lyons & Barnes, after, the business was Wm. M. Lyons & Curtis and in 1880 the firm became Wood Curtis & Co, this firm occupied the building until about 1927, when the business was dissolved. This building was torn down in 1937."
