Description
The papier-mache statue was created in 2007 by School of the Art Institute of Chicago undergraduate student David Cordero. At the time, the Obama campaign tried to distance itself from the statue, stating that then-Senator Obama ""isn't a fan of art that offends religious sensibilities."" Cordero, however, said that in his eyes the sculpture is about taking ""caution in assigning all these inflated expectations on one individual, and expecting them to change something that many hands have shaped.""
