Description
Rudolph Schindler first worked with Aline Barnsdall on the Hollyhock House, when Frank Lloyd Wright sent Schindler to California from Illinois to supervise the construction while Wright went to Japan to work on the Imperial Hotel. Schindler continued to work with Barnsdall, even after she had a falling-out with Wright. The Translucent house was designed to be set along a cliff-top overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Palos Verdes. It was never built, and has been named one of the greatest unfinished projects of the twentieth century.
