Description
Image of a broadside listing information about a charity drawing organized by J.M. Pattee taking place on April 29, 1875 in Laramie City, Wyoming. Information about the charity event is printed on both sides of the broadside and there are three columns of text on each side. Prizes for the lottery total up to $350,000. Columns surrounding the print include promotional information about Pattee, testimonials, endorsements, and information about the humanitarian intent of the drawing. Verso includes more promotional statements about the charity drawing, lists names of former lottery winners, and includes advertisements for the American Gold and Silver Mining Co. (scam company run by Pattee), and Lohman & Co.’s Indian Blood Purifier product.
“Legalized by authority of an Act of the Legislature of Wyoming." --text, recto, top of print. "Thanks of a great city, publicly tendered to Mr. J.M. Pattee, who so successfully conducted the First, Second, Third and Fourth Great Public Drawings." --text, recto, lower section. “For full particulars or Tickets, address the Manager. J.M. Pattee, Laramie City, Wyoming.” – text, recto, bottom of print.
