Surfacing the rails of the dome for the Hooker telescope, Mount Wilson Observatory. Along the rail is a motor-driven grinder, pushed along by a motor-driven truck, and guided by a steel boom pivoted in the center. The San Gabriel Mountains are visible in the background.
