Description
Photograph by John Gurm of the exterior of an adobe on the Los Alamos Rancho of Santa Elena, 2 miles north on an old highway, September 4, 1937. In the foreground, a set of three bells is hanging on a wooden rack hung by a chain from a tree branch. The adobe is beyond these. There is a low wall around the porch, and on the porch are several chairs leaning against the wall of the house. There are three wood framed doors visible. The 48,803 acre Rancho was a grant to Jose Antonio de la Guerra in 1839.
