Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on July 14, 1965 states: "The Lake Tahoe Sierra region can be an area of water deficiency or water surplus, depending upon the winter snow. The top picture (subject photo), taken in 1961, shows the Tahoe outlet into the Truckee River near Tahoe City when the lake stood below its statutory limit of 6,223 feet above sea level. The lower photograph (photo 7872), taken last spring, showed the lake at near its maximum level of 6,229.1 feet above sea level."
